Music Director

To keep pace with our company’s growth and ambitions we are looking for a passionate music professional to join our team. As Music Director your main focus will be on translating brand identities into music (playlists), connecting brands to the right music curator and supervising our curator roster.

In addition, you will be further developing our methods and processes to capture a brand's identity into music. This means you should get excited to take a deep-dive into music branding theory and are eager to develop and experiment with novel ways of doing so.

Lastly, you will be in charge of engaging our curator community. This means organising events, sharing relevant content and generally bringing together people with a shared passion for music.

As a Music Director, you will:

  • Translate the essence of a brand into a ‘Music Identity’. You use a structured (design) process to capture a brand’s DNA in music;
  • Present the Music Identity and process to clients and their branding team. Creating a Music Identity can be an iterative process, so you will actively facilitate this process and lead all music related conversations with the client;
  • Connect brands to the right curator and brief the curator on the client’s Music Identity;
  • Keep an eye (ear) on the playlists to control the quality. You will gather feedback from clients and instruct the curator so he / she is always aligned with the brand;
  • Further develop kollekt.fm’s methods and processes to capture a brand's identity into music. This involves researching the effects of music on people’s behaviour;
  • Recruit and onboard new curators in our roster;
  • Engage with the curator community both on- and offline by organising meetups / events and sharing relevant content.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Wide music knowledge & network in the music scene;
  • Experience in music branding, or relevant experience in the music industry (2 years minimum);
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (storytelling);
  • HBO/University degree, or international equivalent;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset. We are a small and dedicated team that always goes the extra mile when it's needed. We expect our Music Director to be engaged with (client) brands and curators outside of office hours as well;
  • The ability to work independently, meet deadlines and undertake novel projects on your own;
  • People skills that bring confidence and trust from clients and curators;
  • Fluent in English.

Even better if you have:

  • Knowledge of design tools (e.g. Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator);
  • Ability to create 'music & curator-related content' for our blog / newsletter called Volume (photography, copywriting);
  • Social media and tech savvy.

We Offer:

  • The chance to be part of a young and ambitious team, with a fun, hard working and dynamic atmosphere;

  • A space for you to grow with a broad scope of responsibilities;

  • Ability to work partly from home or your favourite coffee-bar;

  • A relaxed, informal office in the centre of Amsterdam;

  • Joining our yearly ‘workation’ to some exotic place somewhere on this planet;

  • TrainMore membership;

  • Healthy lunch, good coffee, all day snacks and Friday drinks.
